- Historic Town
Reserve with a valuable Renaissance castle and a
Rococo theatre, one of the oldest surviving in
Europe. The Minorite monastery with a Convent of
the Poor Clares founded in1350 forms an extensive
complex of sacral buildings. The Church of St
Vitus is a splendid work of Late Gothic with a
Baroque altar.

- A picturesque spa
town in the valley of the river Teplá is famous
for the Moser Glass and Porcelain Factory and the

thermal springs used to cure world-known visitors
in the past such as Goethe, Schiller, Beethoven,
Chopin, Liszt, Paganini, Peter the Great and
Bach.

Benesov Brewery
- This romantic
castle was rebuilt in 1889-94 by Franz Ferdinand
dEste, pretender to the Austrian-Hungarian
throne , killed in Sarajevo in 1914. The interior
furnishing, collections of works of art and 16th-18th
century arms, one of the most remarkable in
Europe, date from that time.

- Karlstejn
- Castle built in
1348 by Emperor Charles IV served as safe deposit
for the Imperial Crown Jewels. The Holy Rood
Chapel contains a unique set of 129 Gothic panel
paintings by Master Theodoric dated 1357-65.

- The Late Baroque
fort was established in 1780 to protect Bohemia
from the North-West. The ingenious system of
fortifications was later turned into prison and
then to a concentration camp. A Jewish ghetto was
established in the town, through which 160 000
prisoners passed. A Museum of the Ghetto was
established in the Main Fort.

- Historic Town
Reserve with the largest main square in Bohemia
surrounded by Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque
burghers houses. The Renaissance Town Hall
has Baroque alterations, the Black Tower gives a
fine view of the town. The Dominican monastery
dates back to 1265.

southern Bohemia with picturesque vernacular
houses in the style of Peasant Baroque in
unspoilt form.

style of Windsor Castle dating from the middle of
the 19th century with collections of

South Bohemian Art Gallery contains collections
of Gothic art of Southern Bohemia, Flemish and
Dutch 17th century paintings and
modern art.
