The St. Vitus Cathedral is an outstanding masterpiece of Gothic style in Prague, the burial place of Czech kings, Prague archbishops and members of Czech noble families. The Wladislav Hall of the Royal Palace, the ancient place of middle-age tournaments, serves today the purposes of presidential elections since 1935. St Ludmila and other princes of the Premyslide dynasty found their resting-place in this typically Romanesque basilica. It is filled with small middle age houses and noble palaces transformed today to attractive cafés, painting galleries and boutiques. The St. Nicholas Church is the most remarkable presentation of baroque art in Prague. Richly decorated interior hides a monumental St.Nicholas altar, frescos and religious paintings by famous artists of the period (Karel Skreta, etc.).
