The issue brings knowledge of Werdermann (1933) compared to latest discoveries and opinions of the authors, with latest photographs from their autumn 2002 trip. Each Brazilian state is reviewed and all columnar cacti grown there are mentioned, compared to Werdermann knowledge. Comments on the species concentrates on the most important notes especially regarding their taxonomical position and distribution, which in many times were not published.
